Loveblood Creative – an Illustration Agency formed with Love, Blood, Sweat and Tears.
For those working in the creative industries, your journey may not have been an easy one. Perhaps firstly battling with your parents who would rather, rightly or wrongly, you choose a more "stable and financially rewarding" career in favour of going to Art School or Music School for example. Then the struggle continues as you try balancing creativity and “making a living”. This is no new struggle and I wish at Art School we were made to take a business course too! The path that has taken me to create Loveblood has had many twists & turns. I was once TV Presenter on live TV, interviewing everyone from Moby to Norm from Cheers! I then went on to run 4 Minute Wonders, a music video production initiative commissioning £5000 music vids for Soma Records, Warp, Skint and many others. It seemed like a natural step to start directing and I started with music videos (I even got one on MTV!) to film. My short film “Caffalic Educashun” was supported by many amazing people, Elvis Costello, The Beta Band and Working Title Films but it also allowed me the opportunity to work with the great cinematographer, Brian Tuffano. On a whim and with a plane ticket gifted to me by a wonderful french lady, I took off to Cannes and ended up at the dinner table of Richard Attenborough. As a stylist, I have kitted Ray Winston out in Civil War uniform for a TV commercial, and as the owner of Fallow Denim indulging a passion for fashion and started importing Japanese denim and creating high end denim products in the UK since 2010.
Lecturing had its own incredible rewards and students at both Duncan Of Jordanstone and Northbrook College(Now The MET) have equally experienced my own special brand of “teaching”…I think they taught me more. These are the twisty, turny hightlights of my career. But it hasn’t all been smooth sailing. I have had my fair share of ‘stormy seas’….but who wants to hear about those!
When the storm hits, it sends you reeling, your compass is malfunctioning, not knowing what way to turn next in your career...and that is how it felt when, on the 2nd of January 2019, I was made redundant from a job I LOVED :(
After firstly thinking, "ok, that's never happened before" and a panic attack in the supermarket, I decided that just because the job was redundant DIDN’T MEAN THAT I WAS! (I think that is a very important distinction for all who are going through this at the moment.)
An opportunity had presented itself to balance the scales of business, creativity and family. What at first was perceived as a crushing blow became a saving grace. With the love and support of my family, Amy Very, Jody Juba @ House Of Juba, Jude Turner Creative and the inimitable Daniel Ball; LOVEBLOOD CREATIVE was born. But lets not forget the Artists.
The wonderful Loveblood Artists (and all Artists) are the people who have inspired me most, they fill the world with a beauty we all enjoy and without which a bleak existence would be our fate! Alleviating that struggle and enabling a more beautiful world is what Loveblood Creative is all about. Loveblood Creative, I, want to connect inspiring creatives with progressive & dynamic clients with honesty and integrity.
The community of illustrators and animators that has grown around me, is born of my passion and extreme approachability (haha), building meaningful positive working relationships, allowing the love and creative blood to flow.
